3.4.6.2 Hyperwave's Hierarchical Structure

In the current implementation of WaveMaster, there are only two ways of using the hierarchical structure of Hyperwave. First, users can access collections directly. WaveMaster displays the content of the collection similar to a filemanager showing a directory (see Figure 3.4). Each member of the collection, provided that the user has read permission, is represented by its title (a hyperlink to the object itself), an icon describing the type of the object, and an information icon to get meta information about the object. This allows browsing the collection hierarchy without actually opening documents. However, if a collection contains a Collection Head (a document which describes the collection), then this document will be viewed together with the members of the collection[*].

Second, when you view an arbitrary object (document or collection), WaveMaster provides a link to its parent collection(s). The most recent version of the Hyperwave Information Server (HIS 2.5) provides a local map and a collection browser (explorer), Java applets which provide functionality similar to that of native Hyperwave clients.
