WaveMaster also supports Hyperwave's annotations to documents, which is the electronic equivalent of making notes on paper when browsing literature. Pressing the ``annotation'' button opens an HTML form to write the annotation (HTML is allowed) and some meta information. Specifying the access rights is very important because it allows users to distinguish between private annotations (only visible to the author), group annotations (only visible to certain user groups), or public annotations (visible to every user).
