15.7 Harmony system functions

Harmony' s system-oriented functions include user identification, changing passwords and explicitly clearing Harmony' s cache. The Harmony Identify dialog allows anonymous users to identify themselves to the server by entering their Hyper-G username and password.

Identified users can make themselves anonymous by entering anon in the Login field. Identified users with system rights can identify themselves as any other user simply by entering the username in the Login field, without being required to enter a password.

The Harmony Change Password dialog allows identified users to change their password.

The new password is entered twice to guard against typing errors. For simplicity, a new password can also be entered in pre-encrypted form, for example when cutting and pasting from the UNIX password file.

Harmony maintains its own client-side cache, which may be explicitly cleared. Clearing the cache forces Harmony to (re-)fetch subsequently accessed documents from the server, rather than relying on cached copies.
