It gives an overview on features of on-line learning sys-tems that facilitate the learning process in particular within the Web. Interesting insights based on experiences in our research work and prototype implementations in the field of intelligent tutor systems are outlined. An outlook on possible future developments of adaptable systems and innovative teaching and learning ap-proaches is provided.
