1.3 How to use this book
As explained in Section 1.2 this book addresses quite a large and varied audience. Hence not all chapters are necessarily of importance to all readers. In every case, we suggest you start by superficially reading Chapters 1 - 10, returning for details later as may be necessary. To make the reading of independent parts of this book possible, we have deliberately provided some redundancy; in other words, essential information is sometimes discussed in more than one chapter from slightly different points of view. It is thus possible to some degree to read chapters independently of others, using the cross-references provided where necessary. For a systematic study of the book and following the classification of Section 1.2 we recommend the following Chapters for each of the groups (1) - (7):
- Chapters 15, 17, 19 - 22
- Chapters 11 - 25
- Chapters 11 - 25
- Chapters 15 - 19 and 22 - 25
- Chapters 15, 17, 19 and 22
- Chapters 12 - 19, 22 - 30
- Chapters 11 - 31
In each of the above cases the remaining chapters will be of interest to some extent, depending on the individual situation.
