13.5 Creation of a local database

The easiest way to create and manage local databases is by means of the built-in features of the clients. These features may vary and change over time. Amadeus, for example, supports drag-and-drop of collections and documents between Hyper-G servers and local databases. Since not all features were implemented at the time this book was written, please check the client you are using for more details. Figure 13.2 shows the dialog box in Amadeus that is used to create new local databases.

The other way to create local databases is to use a series of tools. At the end you will have a local database and some protocol files. These protocol files contain information about possible and real errors that occurred during the process. This is explained in the following subsection.
