If you want to know more about how to create local databases consult the readme files on the CD-ROM that comes with this book in the directories tools/ldbtools and tools/cdtools. The collection StandAloneServer in the IICM Hyper-G server hyperg://hgiicm.tu-graz.ac.at will be updated regularly when there are new versions of the tools or changes in the clients that affect the standalone server. You may also check the above collection in the local database that is supplied on the CD-ROM.
[Ropiequet(1986)] gives a broad and profound overview of things to consider when you produce your own CD-ROMs, but it does not cover the problems that occur when you produce CD-ROMs for UNIX. Additional information can be found in [Buddine and Young(1987)]. [ISO(1989)] describes the ISO 9660 standard for CD-ROMs.
[Blunden and Blunden(1994)] is a compilation of case studies about electronic publishing. It also includes statistical data that can be useful in assessing profitability.
