Since this chapter is very UNIX oriented, you might need some reference literature on UNIX. Good overviews are given in the books by [Gilly(1992)] and [Bourne(1982)]. A description of the script language Perl which is used for the install scripts can be found in [Wall and Schwartz(1991)].
