The standard book for Windows programmers containing nearly everything about the basics is the book by [Petzold(1992)]. Further information about the Microsoft Foundation Classes and Visual C++ is given in [Parker(1995)] and a good textbook for programming is [Kruglinkski(1993)].
If you are interested in graphics formats consider the encyclopedia of graphics file formats [Murray and van Ryper(1994)]. [Gall(1991)] explains the MPEG movie format. [Adobe Systems Inc.(1990)] is the reference manual of the PostScript Standard by Adobe Systems.
You can obtain more information about the VRweb project from [Pichler et al.(1995)]. [OpenGL Architecture Review Board(1992)] contains a reference for Silicon Graphics' 3D programming library OpenGL, while [Neider et al.(1993)] is a programmer' s guide. The Inventor Mentor [Wernecke(1994)] describes the Inventor format.
