A good introduction to the Gopher information system is Internet Gopher User' s Guide [Lindner(1994)]. The Gopher protocol is described in the RFC 1436: The Internet Gopher Protocol [Anklesaria et al.(1993b)]. An unpublished source of information about the benefits of is available via FTP [Anklesaria et al.(1993a)]. Finally a very informative article co-authored by McCahill (the ``father'' of Gopher) presents the Evolution of Internet Gopher [McCahill and Anklesaria(1995)].
