28.4 Preparing material for electronic publishing

Let us suppose that you want to publish material electronically on the Web, additionally make a CD-ROM version and, as a publisher, you also need a printed version of the electronic journal for archival purposes.

Preparing different documents in different formats for the Internet, CD-ROM and printed paper versions is normally very time-consuming and expensive. Hyper-G fully supports distribution of hyperlinked PostScript documents that can be used for the printed version as well and Hyper-G also supports preparation of CD-ROMs from a collection hierarchy. There are nearly no additional costs for the publisher even though publications are distributed in three different ways.

Preparation of electronic or hybrid publication material is always done in the Hyper-G server. Depending on whether you want a CD-ROM version and/or a paper version too, you can make a snapshot of the collection hierarchy and also print the documents for the paper version.
