3/58.3 Architectural considerations
The early `resource discovery and retrieval systems' of the Web, as they were called, were designed to be simple and easy to deploy. It is no surprise that their architecture is sometimes over-simplistic, sometimes non-scalable, and sometimes simply flawed.
