At the University of Auckland, Dr. Jennifer Lennon's graduate level Multimedia and Hypermedia Systems class has been taught both on the City Campus and at the Tamaki Campus, which is 12 km away. To avoid the problem of each lecture having to be taught twice, the Hypermedia Unit, a part of the Computer Science Department of the University of Auckland, has been developing a ``Distributed Leaning Environment'' for both synchronous and asynchronous online education.
